In this case, TE Controller is displaying 162.7 and not changing. The TE stage is at room temperature and not changing.

This indicates a short in the sensor circuit. To determine whether the short is in the TE Controller or TE Stage, unplug the TE MODULE SENSOR connector on the back of the TE Controller. If the display remains at 162.7, the short is in the TE Controller. If the display changes to a value around -70, the short is in the TE Stage.
